VELOCITY ANALYTICS REPORT (Q2 2022 - Q4 2024)
We're taking our first steps toward becoming a fully transparent indie label by providing truthful insights into our analytics, so we can't even lie about what's going on behind the scenes.
PLEASE NOTE:
This is a shorter version of our internal Accounting Analytics report, written to ensure the entire community understands how the label is performing and where we’re headed.

1: Revenue Trends
-
Our income is inconsistent. It spikes heavily when one or two songs perform well, then falls sharply when momentum fades.
-
There’s no steady baseline yet — stability is missing.
***
2: Performance Breakdown
-
Roughly 80% of revenue comes from about 20% of releases.
-
A few tracks carry the majority of earnings; most others generate little.
-
Lesson: we need to release more consistently to avoid relying on “lucky hits.”
***
3: Streaming Reality
-
Not all streams pay equally.
-
TikTok/short-form platforms: large numbers, but payouts are negligible.
-
Spotify Premium, Apple Music, Beatport, and digital downloads: far more valuable.
-
-
Example: 100 downloads can out-earn 10,000 TikTok streams.
***
4: Audience & Markets
-
Strongest paying markets: United States and Japan.
-
Other regions contribute streams, but not much revenue.
-
Focusing marketing and outreach on these top markets gives the best return.
***
5: Key Challenges
-
Inconsistent release schedule → unstable revenue.
-
Heavy reliance on a small number of successful songs.
-
Too much weight on low-paying platforms.
-
Need to strengthen community engagement and direct support.
***
6. Action Plan Moving Forward
-
Consistency: More regular releases, even if smaller, to smooth out revenue gaps.
-
Platform strategy: Prioritize platforms that reward artists fairly (Spotify Premium, Apple, Beatport, Bandcamp).
-
Market focus: Double down on the US and Japan while growing secondary regions slowly.
-
Community support: Keep encouraging direct backing via Fourthwall, Bandcamp, and merch. These are worth far more than passive streams.

Closing Note:
We at Velocity Music aren’t just about chasing numbers. The data shows us where we’re strong and where we’re weak, but our core remains the same: building a label that grows with its artists and its community.
This is why your support — streaming, buying, sharing, and giving feedback — makes a tangible difference. Together, we can move from a “spike and drop” cycle to real, sustainable growth. When you become a monthly member from our various selection of tiers, starting with $5 a month for the base-tier, you can help us crowd-fund our goals, because we know, at this rate, we can't do all of this alone.
All of the proceeds from the tiers and upcoming merch will go directly to our volunteer team and artists, ensuring that we can do what we do best and that you can enjoy them in the future.
